I originally wanted the tendrils to be as they are, like in the game, but I thought, "They look boring, might as well add some spice to it." So, I thought and thought, until I came to a conclusion: something akin to blood. Sure, the normal red color looks nice, but I made them the same color as the tendrils' outlines, hey, it fitted better for me, at least.
